With investments surpassing 600 million riyals

Jazan Governor Launches Tropical Fruits and Greenhouses Project

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Jazan Region and Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of the Strategic Office for the Development of Jazan Region, launched yesterday evening the 'Tropical Fruits and Greenhouses' project in the region, with investments exceeding 600 million riyals, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Nasser bin Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, Deputy Governor of the Region, His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Engineer Mansour bin Hilal Al-Mushaiti, the Assistant Minister of Investment, Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al-Dubaikhi, the Dutch Ambassador Hans Peter van der Woude, and a number of local and international investors, and representatives of government agencies and the private sector.

On this occasion, His Royal Highness the Governor of Jazan Region, Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of the Strategic Office, affirmed that the project is an extension of the Strategic Office's efforts to enable and attract quality investments, enhance sustainable development, and benefit from the region's abundant agricultural potential, supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to diversify the economy, enhance food security, and increase the agricultural sector's contribution to economic development.

The project is one of the largest protected agriculture projects in the region, implemented by 'Amtar Al Khair' Company in partnership with the Dutch group 'KUBO' – one of the world's leading companies in greenhouse technologies and smart agriculture – with the aim of transferring global expertise and applying the latest agricultural technologies in the local market.

The project is part of the Strategic Office's efforts to develop the Jazan Region by enabling qualitative investment partnerships and attracting global expertise to the region, contributing to the development of the agricultural sector, improving its efficiency, and enhancing its competitiveness.

The total area of the project is one million square meters, including 500,000 square meters for high-tech greenhouses and 500,000 square meters dedicated to tropical fruit production, enhancing the utilization of the agricultural potentials that characterize the Jazan Region.

The project will contribute to providing more than 2,000 job opportunities, in addition to stimulating investments in agricultural value chains, boosting economic growth and raising the competitiveness of the agricultural sector in the Jazan Region.

The project relies on advanced protected agriculture systems, including smart climate management solutions inside greenhouses, closed irrigation systems, and water recycling technologies, contributing to reducing water consumption by up to 75% and improving the efficiency of natural resource use according to sustainability principles.
