The Canadian Prime Minister's visit to the Kingdom confirms the commitment of both countries' leaderships to develop and strengthen bilateral relations, given their political and economic potential as G20 members and the importance of leveraging this for shared interests amid the continuous evolution of ties. The visit also reflects the Canadian government's appreciation for Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Kingdom's political and economic stature, weight, and pivotal international role, as well as its keenness to enhance communication and coordination with the Kingdom on files and issues of mutual regional and international concern.

Evolution of Business Sector Relations

The relations between business sectors in Saudi Arabia and Canada are witnessing continuous development. In the context of enhancing communication between Saudi and Canadian businessmen, the Saudi Chambers Federation announced in 2024 the formation of a new administrative structure for the Saudi-Canadian Business Council to support efforts to connect businessmen and companies in both countries and maximize the benefit from trade and investment opportunities. The Saudi Chambers Federation also opened an office in Toronto to facilitate connections between companies in both countries, organize delegation visits, and coordinate economic events. Last January, Riyadh hosted the Saudi-Canadian Business and Investment Forum, which was held to discuss enhancing investment partnership between the two countries in digital transformation and infrastructure, in addition to opportunities for enabling the private sector in Saudi Arabia and Canada. The forum culminated in the signing of 6 memoranda of understanding worth approximately $600 million, covering cooperation initiatives in sectors such as telecommunications, information technology, cybersecurity, education, and manufacturing.

Sustainable Investment Partnership

The two countries are working to enhance their trade relations and move from traditional trade exchange to a stage of "sustainable investment partnership" and provide a fertile environment for investors to exchange innovative goods and services. The volume of trade exchange between Saudi Arabia and Canada in 2025 amounted to about $2.909 billion. Saudi exports to Canada reached $1.719 billion, while Saudi imports from Canada totaled $1.190 billion. Saudi Vision 2030 and its projects and initiatives offer promising prospects for expanding partnerships between Saudi Arabia and Canada in specific sectors such as artificial intelligence, clean technology, mining, and energy. This is reflected in the presence of about 767 Canadian companies with regional offices and headquarters in the Kingdom.

Strengthening Cultural and Educational Relations

Saudi Arabia and Canada are also keen to strengthen cultural and educational relations between the two countries. In this regard, the number of Saudi physicians who graduated or are studying in Canada has achieved a record leap, with the total number of graduates and scholarship recipients for the years (2020–2025) reaching approximately 1,984 doctors. The number of graduates grew by 256%, rising from 170 graduates in 2020 to 606 graduates in 2025.
