Eastern Province Mayor Eng. Fahd Al-Jubeir, in the presence of deputies, municipal heads, and relevant department directors, discussed the program and plan for improving and developing the urban landscape.
Eng. Al-Jubeir emphasized the importance of continuing to intensify field efforts, enhancing integration between municipalities and departments, and persisting in implementing environmental and development initiatives to improve quality of life, upgrade the urban landscape, and achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
The Eastern Province Mayor stressed the importance of continued integration between agencies, municipalities, departments, and partner entities, enhancing proactive monitoring, and leveraging performance indicators to develop plans that ensure sustainable urban landscape improvement, raise compliance levels, and achieve quality-of-life goals, ultimately leading to higher-quality, more sustainable cities that bolster the Eastern Province's status as an attractive urban environment for residents, visitors, and investors.
Al-Jubeir reviewed the indicators of the Building Compliance Certificate initiative, which showed 3,420 compliance certificates issued by July 7, 2026, achieving a completion rate of 74.95%. He also reviewed the indicators of visual blight treatment, completion rates, and the proactive treatment plan, which relies on intensifying field tours and utilizing modern technologies and the 'Baladi Lens' platform to enhance monitoring efficiency and response speed, raising compliance levels in the region's cities and governorates.
The meeting discussed indicators of visual blight reports and updates on the initiative to fence vacant lands, targeting 962 plots, in addition to following up on field monitoring work to expedite handling of observations and reduce visual blight.
The meeting reviewed the municipalities' efforts in implementing the Saudi Architecture initiative, and the work of the Saudi Architecture Unit in reviewing and developing design proposals for electrical transformers and public restrooms, in line with approved design guidelines, enhancing urban identity, and elevating the quality of the urban landscape.
The meeting reviewed the performance of partner entities in handling reports, and the importance of continued coordination and integration among various entities to improve efficiency and accelerate report processing.
It is worth noting that the Eastern Province Municipality is preparing to implement the afforestation season in the region's cities and governorates, as part of its efforts to increase vegetation cover, improve the quality of the urban environment, and contribute to achieving sustainability and quality-of-life goals, through early preparation and coordination, and allocation of trees to the region's cities and governorates.
