Egypt condemned and denounced in the strongest terms the threats targeting the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which involve irresponsible escalation that could undermine the security and stability of the region, and threaten the safety of maritime navigation, international trade, and vital waterways.

An official statement issued by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry today (Tuesday) confirmed that these threats represent a blatant violation of international law, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and relevant Security Council resolutions.

Egypt emphasized its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and all Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and its support for all measures taken to maintain their security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

Egypt affirmed the importance of prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions, and respecting the rules of international law, which contributes to de-escalation and maintaining the security and stability of the region.

The Egyptian statement comes in the wake of the announcement by the Houthi group on Monday, imposing what it described as a 'maritime navigation ban' on ships associated with Saudi Arabia through the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb, accusing the Kingdom of imposing a blockade on Yemen.

Other Arab countries condemned the Houthi statements and threats, emphasizing the necessity of respecting freedom of navigation and implementing relevant Security Council resolutions regarding Yemen and the security of the Red Sea.
