The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has issued the Agricultural Pesticides Guide (1448 AH - 2026 AD) to ensure safe use of agricultural pesticides, regulate their registration and circulation according to approved regulations in the Kingdom, promoting sector governance and establishing best scientific and regulatory practices.

The Ministry explained that the guide is a comprehensive national reference for regulating the circulation and use of agricultural pesticides. It aims to provide updated lists of registered and authorized pesticides, clarify restricted and banned pesticides, publish safe use instructions and pre-harvest intervals, contributing to the protection of public health and the environment, and supporting farmers and beneficiaries with scientific information on agricultural pests and integrated control methods. The Ministry emphasized that the guide contains integrated scientific and regulatory content including approved definitions and terms, pesticide label data, detailed lists of insecticides, acaricides, nematicides, fungicides, herbicides, plant growth regulators, biological control agents, and adjuvants, usage patterns, application rates, pre-harvest intervals, trade names of registered pesticides, as well as lists of restricted and banned pesticides, enhancing user compliance with technical and regulatory instructions.

The Ministry pointed out that the guide is an extension of efforts to develop the agricultural pesticide management system and transition to a scientific approach based on risk management and rational use, in line with best international practices and standards, contributing to sustainable agricultural production, enhancing food security, and reducing health and environmental risks. It stressed the importance of verifying pesticide label data and approved registration number, and adhering to instructions and pre-harvest intervals before using pesticides or harvesting crops.
