Riyadh, Safar 09, 1448 AH corresponding to July 23, 2026 SPA - The Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program 'Reef Saudi' confirmed that the support provided to beneficiaries in the fruit sector has contributed to achieving tangible results, represented by an increase in the sector's production to about 367,000 tons by the end of 2025, in addition to supporting more than 12.4 thousand beneficiaries, with total direct support exceeding 330 million riyals, thereby enhancing food security and aligning with the targets of Saudi Vision 2030 in developing, producing, processing, and marketing fruits. The official spokesman for the 'Reef Saudi' program, Majid Al-Buraikan, explained that the mango production season, which extends from April to the end of August, contributes to activating agricultural and marketing activity in production areas by providing diverse varieties that meet the needs of markets in various regions of the Kingdom, noting that the production of small farmers and producers benefiting from the program's support reached about 31,000 tons during 2025, which enhances the economic returns of rural communities and supports agricultural rural tourism. He pointed out that the fruit sector is one of the most prominent sectors that contributed to enhancing food security, after achieving about 88% of its targets, in addition to achieving a sustainable environmental impact by planting 21 million fruit trees in support of the Saudi Green Initiative, reducing water consumption by 50%, and achieving water efficiency of 90% through the implementation of a number of pilot projects.
