The Council of Ministers approved exempting three categories of beneficiaries transitioning from the previous social security system to the current system from the provisions of Article Nine, to ensure continued support and take into account their living conditions.

The government decision included the elderly with no income, and persons with disabilities who have no breadwinner.

The exemption also included orphans with special circumstances who lack a breadwinner, who are among those transitioning from the abolished social security system issued by Royal Decree No. M/45 of 1427 AH.

The decision clarified that the exemption pertains to the provision of paragraph (2) of Article Nine of the current social security system, which was issued under Royal Decree No. M/32 dated the fourth of Rabi' al-Thani 1442 AH. This legislative measure aims to ensure that these eligible categories continue to benefit from the provisions and benefits of social security.

Consideration of Social Conditions

The decision indicated that this contributes to taking into account their social conditions and enhances the levels of protection and support provided to them. A draft royal decree has been prepared to implement this legal exemption in its approved form. This comes in preparation for completing the necessary regulatory procedures to issue the decree and put it into actual effect.
