General / Al-Huqail leads Kingdom's delegation to high-level General Assembly meeting on New Urban Agenda
New York, 27 Muharram 1448 AH corresponding to July 12, 2026 AD, SPA. His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Huqail, today began a visit to New York City, during which he heads the Kingdom's delegation participating in the high-level meeting of the General Assembly on the New Urban Agenda, organized by the United Nations at its headquarters in New York, representing the mid-term review of the implementation of the New Urban Agenda. The Kingdom's participation comes within the framework of its active presence in international forums concerned with sustainable development, and showcasing its achievements in urban development within the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, reflecting the transformation witnessed by Saudi cities in enhancing the efficiency of urban infrastructure, improving quality of life, developing the built environment, and building more sustainable cities capable of supporting economic growth. His Excellency the Minister participates in the main session, where he delivers the Kingdom's speech, reviewing the Saudi experience in urban development, the role of cities in supporting sustainable development, and enhancing integration between urban planning, economy, and quality of life, in line with global sustainable development targets, in addition to reviewing the progress report on the implementation of the New Urban Agenda submitted by the Kingdom. The Kingdom's participation in the high-level General Assembly meeting on the New Urban Agenda confirms its commitment to the international development agenda, and its continued contribution to international efforts aimed at building sustainable cities, exchanging experiences and expertise, and highlighting the Saudi model in urban development as one of the leading models that combines long-term planning, economic development, and improving quality of life. // End // 23:57 Mecca Time
