General / Ministry of Interior Holds Workshop Titled 'Mutual Legal Assistance as a Tool for Anti-Corruption and Asset Recovery'

Riyadh, Safar 2, 1448 AH corresponding to July 16, 2026, SPA - The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Permanent Committee for Legal Assistance Requests, held today a workshop titled 'Mutual Legal Assistance as a Tool for Anti-Corruption and Asset Recovery', in cooperation with the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority, with the participation of specialists from relevant entities, at the Ministry of Interior Employees Club in Riyadh. The workshop addressed the regulatory framework for mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, its concept and forms, the legal foundations regulating it at the national and international levels, the principles governing the submission and execution of legal assistance requests, and reviewed its role in supporting cross-border criminal investigations and its contribution to combating corruption. This workshop comes within the efforts of the Permanent Committee for Legal Assistance Requests to enhance the system of international cooperation in criminal matters, disseminate regulatory and applied knowledge of mutual legal assistance, and raise the efficiency of competent authorities, in support of national efforts in combating corruption, tracing illicit proceeds, and recovering assets.
