Governor of the Eastern Province Inaugurates Development and Investment Projects Worth Over 900 Million Riyals in Qatif

Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, inaugurated today at his office in the Emirate's headquarters a series of development, investment, and community projects in Qatif Governorate, with a total value exceeding 900 million riyals, in the presence of the Mayor of the Eastern Province, Engineer Fahad bin Mohammed Al-Jubeir. These projects are part of the Eastern Province Municipality's efforts to develop infrastructure, improve road efficiency, increase green spaces, develop municipal assets, and create high-quality destinations that contribute to enhancing the quality of life and supporting economic activity in the governorate.
Prince Saud emphasized that the support and attention the municipal sector receives from the leadership have contributed to the implementation of distinctive projects that upgrade the quality of services, enhance urban development, and increase infrastructure efficiency, all of which reflect positively on the quality of life in the Eastern Province. He stressed the importance of continuing to implement projects according to the highest standards of quality and efficiency to boost the investment environment, provide facilities and services that meet the needs of residents and visitors, and contribute to achieving sustainable development.
Engineer Fahad Al-Jubeir explained that the inauguration of these projects is an extension of the significant support Qatif Governorate receives from the leadership. He expressed his gratitude to the Governor of the Eastern Province for his continuous support and keen interest in following up on development projects that contribute to improving quality of life and achieving sustainable development in the region.
Al-Jubeir noted that these projects embody integrated efforts to translate development plans into tangible, high-quality projects that positively impact residents and visitors. He indicated that they include infrastructure development, an increase in green spaces, the development of investment destinations, and support for community projects, all in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, enhancing the governorate's appeal for investment and tourism.
He explained that the projects included the opening of three major road development projects with a total length of 9,500 meters and a cost exceeding 178 million riyals. These aim to improve traffic flow, accessibility, connectivity between parts of the governorate, and overall safety and urban landscape. Development works included King Abdulaziz Street (Phase 1, 2,500m long and 60m wide), Riyadh Street (Phase 1, 3,000m long and 40m wide), and North Al-Nasirah Street (4,000m long and 40m wide). The scope of work includes paving, lighting, pedestrian walkways, rainwater drainage, signage, parking spaces, seating areas, landscaping, urban beautification, and a dedicated public transport bus lane.
The projects also included the opening of 15 parks across several districts of the governorate, covering a total area of over 71,000 square meters at a cost of 13 million riyals. These parks feature greenery, diverse trees and shrubs, walking paths, children's play areas, seating, lighting, and visual aesthetics, alongside support facilities. These projects aim to expand green cover, provide safe recreational spaces near residential areas, support physical activity and healthy lifestyles, and improve the urban environment and social cohesion.
The inauguration included three major investment projects with a total value of 720 million riyals. Leading these is the Prince Sultan Cultural Center, with an investment of 500 million riyals over an area exceeding 153,000 square meters, designed to be an integrated destination for cultural, tourism, and entertainment events. Other projects include the development of the Thursday Popular Market (Souq Al-Khamis) for 120 million riyals over 24,000 square meters, aimed at creating a commercial and heritage destination that preserves its social identity while improving the urban and service environment. Additionally, the Saihat Park development, with an investment of 100 million riyals, serves as an integrated family and entertainment destination featuring leisure areas, games, green spaces, walking paths, family seating, and service facilities, thereby developing municipal assets and opening broader opportunities for private sector participation.
The inauguration also included two projects under community participation initiatives with a total investment of 8.5 million riyals: the development of Saihat Roundabout for 5 million riyals over an area of 10,500 square meters, and the establishment of the Craftsmen's Park for 3.5 million riyals over an area of 3,000 square meters.
