Palestinian Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh said Monday that he discussed by phone with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan the developments in the region, the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, and Israeli measures.

Al-Sheikh added, in a post on the American platform X, that he affirmed during the phone call 'standing with Arab brothers in the face of targeting their national security,' expressing his denunciation and condemnation of 'the Iranian aggression against them.'

He stated that the call also discussed ways to enhance brotherly relations between the two sides and joint coordination and action to meet challenges.

There was no immediate comment from the Saudi Foreign Ministry regarding the call.

For more than a week, Tehran has been launching attacks on what it says are US military facilities in Arab countries, including Kuwait and Bahrain, in response to daily US bombing that Iran is subjected to.

US President Donald Trump announced on July 8 that the ceasefire stipulated in the memorandum of understanding signed with Tehran on June 18 had ended.

Trump's announcement came after Iran targeted three commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, as Tehran insists on imposing a mechanism to regulate ship passage through the strategic corridor, while Washington demands ensuring freedom of navigation and its security in the strait.

The escalation caused disruption of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and threatened air traffic and energy supplies, amid intermittent closures of airspace and warnings of targeting US installations and interests outside the Middle East.
