The General Authority for Roads announced the processing of approximately 8,000 observations within the sixth edition of the 'Distinct Safe Roads' campaign, which was launched last February under the patronage of the Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Chairman of the Authority's Board of Directors, Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser; with the aim of surveying and evaluating the road network outside urban areas in various regions of the Kingdom.

The Authority explained that field teams have recorded 12,157 observations since the campaign launch, of which 7,792 observations have been processed, representing more than 64% of the total, while teams continue their intensive work to process 4,365 remaining observations, ensuring improved road efficiency and enhanced traffic safety levels.

Distinct Safe Roads

The campaign targeted a comprehensive survey of the national road network, which exceeds 73,000 km in length, with the participation of more than 620 members from the transport and logistics system, university students, personnel of the Special Forces for Road Security, and representatives of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, distributed across 62 field teams; to monitor and address potholes and cracks, pavement defects, visual distortion elements, weak phone coverage, and other aspects affecting the quality of road user experience.

This campaign represents a qualitative step towards achieving the goals of the Road Sector Program, reaching the sixth global ranking in the Road Quality Index, and reducing the death rate to fewer than 5 cases per 100,000 people, which contributes to enhancing quality of life, maintaining infrastructure sustainability, and solidifying the Kingdom's global leadership in road network connectivity, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
