The King Abdulaziz Foundation continues its efforts to enhance access to historical and scientific knowledge through the 'Open Access' service, which is one of its pathways to make knowledge content available and expand the circle of benefit from specialized scientific and documentary publications via digital platforms.

The service allows researchers and interested individuals free and immediate access to a collection of books, periodicals, and digital scientific publications, with the ability to download available materials, thereby facilitating access to content related to the history of Saudi Arabia and the Arab and Islamic worlds, and supporting researchers, scholars, and those interested in reliable historical sources.

The service also includes making a number of books and scientific publications available through the Foundation's online store under the open access approach, allowing researchers and readers to browse and benefit from scientific materials directly via the Foundation's digital platforms, without the need for traditional access to printed sources.

Supporting Scientific Research Movement

The service also contributes to supporting the scientific research movement by providing specialized content in the fields of history, documents, and humanities, and granting access to various scientific materials including historical studies, scientific records, research investigations, and publications related to the history of the Saudi state and its scientific and intellectual figures. Among the recent publications made available by the Foundation through the 'Open Access' service is the book 'The Scientific Record of the Symposium on Hussein bin Abi Bakr bin Ghannam,' which deals with the figure of historian Hussein bin Ghannam, one of the earliest historians of the Saudi state and author of the book 'Rawdat al-Afkar wa al-Afham,' which is considered one of the most prominent historical sources documenting the events of the founding of the Saudi state.

The book reviews multiple aspects of Ibn Ghannam's scientific and literary personality, his methodology in recording history, his contributions to authorship and writing, and his role in documenting the early stages of the history of the Saudi state and the political, scientific, and social transformations associated with it.

50 Publications in Digital Formats

The Foundation's online store currently displays 50 scientific and historical publications in digital formats, including specialized books in the fields of history and humanities, allowing researchers and interested individuals access to reliable knowledge content and enhancing the presence of Saudi historical publications in the modern digital environment. The 'Open Access' service also works to enhance the utilization of scientific and historical content through digital solutions that keep pace with electronic publishing developments, contributing to building a more open and accessible knowledge environment, and facilitating access to it inside and outside the Kingdom through the Foundation's store on its digital platform, which allows access to digital publications and scientific materials anytime and anywhere.
