Saudi-Turkish Talks on Cooperation in Climate Action
Saudi Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman discussed in Riyadh opportunities for cooperation in climate action with Murat Kurum, Turkey's Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, who chairs the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) to be hosted by Antalya, Turkey, next November.
The meeting discussed opportunities for cooperation in climate action, joint efforts to achieve the goals and principles of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement, reaching comprehensive, balanced and practical outcomes that take into account the national circumstances of member states, as well as reviewing the Kingdom's initiatives and efforts to address the impacts of climate change.
The meeting also discussed exploiting renewable energy sources, managing, reducing and removing emissions through the Saudi Green Initiative, applying the circular carbon economy approach and its technologies, and other national and regional programs and initiatives such as the Ministerial Forum on Clean Energy Technologies and the Innovation Mission, which will be held in the last quarter of this year.
