More than 1,000 parks existing and under construction to enhance quality of life
The Eastern Region Municipality continues its efforts to expand green spaces and improve quality of life in the region's cities and governorates by implementing several development projects, including the construction and rehabilitation of parks, public squares, walking tracks, and waterfronts, contributing to enhancing the urban landscape and providing integrated urban environments for residents and visitors.
Director General of Media and Official Spokesperson for the Eastern Region Municipality, Faisal Al-Zahrani, revealed that the Eastern Region includes more than 980 parks and public squares, 18 parks, 14 corniches and waterfronts, in addition to 213 walking tracks, as part of a system of projects and initiatives aimed at increasing green areas and improving the quality of services and public facilities, in line with the targets of the Quality of Life Program and Saudi Vision 2030.
He pointed out that Khobar Governorate includes 100 parks, Dhahran City 76 parks, and Al-Baida Governorate 10 parks, while the number of parks in central Dammam is 50, eastern Dammam 88, and western Dammam 85, in addition to 45 parks under construction in Dammam City.
Al-Zahrani said that these projects are an extension of the municipality's efforts to increase the per capita share of green spaces, develop urban infrastructure, and provide qualitative facilities that contribute to improving quality of life and support the provision of healthy and sustainable environments that meet the needs of the community.
He explained that the park and green space projects consider the application of modern design standards that meet the needs of various community groups by providing spaces for entertainment and relaxation, and facilities for practicing sports and social activities, enhancing the environmental and aesthetic aspects within residential neighborhoods and making them attractive destinations for individuals and families.
The official spokesman confirmed that the Eastern Region Municipality continues to implement its development projects aimed at developing public facilities, increasing green spaces, and improving the urban landscape, thereby enhancing environmental sustainability and raising the level of services provided to residents and visitors, achieving the targets of Saudi Vision 2030.
