The Al-Sail Al-Kabir - Al-Hawiya road is witnessing heavy traffic congestion, amid increasing daily traffic, causing long vehicle backups.

Okaz field-monitored the traffic backup extending from Al-Buhayta area to the outskirts of Al-Sail Al-Saghir, reaching Al-Dahas Bridge, with slow traffic flow and continuous suffering for drivers.

A number of citizens called for the rapid completion of the link project between Al-Sail Al-Kabir and Al-Urfah, stressing that it represents a main solution to alleviate traffic congestion and divert truck traffic away from the current road.

Mohammed Al-Otaibi said that congestion has become a daily obstacle for road users, while Turki Al-Quthami explained that accelerating the implementation of the link project is the optimal solution to address the traffic crisis, noting that the project's completion will significantly improve traffic flow. Other citizens affirmed that the project will effectively solve the problem once fully implemented.

For its part, the General Authority for Roads told Okaz that the Al-Urfah Road (100) project, linking Al-Sail Al-Kabir road and Makkah road, has reached its final stages, after completing the 25-kilometer road.

The Authority added that the remaining works are limited to implementing the road's intersection with Al-Sail Al-Kabir road, and it is expected to start this part soon after completing regulatory procedures, ensuring project execution according to the highest safety and quality standards.

The project, which began about 12 years ago, is one of the strategic projects in the region, with a total cost exceeding 487 million riyals. It is expected to help divert truck traffic away from the urban area via the current road extending from Al-Sail Al-Saghir through Al-Hawiya and Al-Dahas Bridge, thereby enhancing traffic flow and reducing congestion on this vital axis.
