Buqayq Governorate Municipality has completed development and improvement works during the first half of 2026, aimed at raising the efficiency of infrastructure and enhancing the quality of municipal services, as part of the continuous efforts of the Eastern Region Municipality to improve the urban landscape and elevate the quality of life in the region's cities and governorates.

Director General of the General Administration of Media and Official Spokesperson for the Eastern Region Municipality, Faisal Al-Zahrani, explained that the works carried out included a number of projects for the maintenance and rehabilitation of roads and streets, with asphalt and rehabilitation works exceeding an area of 125,000 square meters, in addition to implementing floor paints for traffic safety elements covering an area of 10,000 square meters, and painting sidewalks along 30,000 linear meters, contributing to enhancing traffic safety and improving the urban appearance of the governorate.

He added that the municipality carried out construction and maintenance of curbs along 10,000 linear meters, in addition to developing and constructing sidewalks covering an area of 65,000 square meters, supporting the ease of pedestrian movement and improving the quality of public facilities, along with works to improve lighting efficiency by maintaining 2,311 lighting poles and painting 103 poles in several locations.

He said these works come within the municipality's plans aimed at developing infrastructure, raising the efficiency of municipal services, and enhancing quality of life through implementing qualitative projects that meet the needs of residents and contribute to improving the urban environment.

Al-Zahrani pointed out that Buqayq Governorate Municipality continues to implement periodic road maintenance programs, with works including treating and repairing street potholes covering an area of 89 square meters, aiming to maintain road efficiency and raise their operational readiness.

He emphasized that the implemented projects and works are an extension of the efforts of the Eastern Region Municipality and its municipalities in developing public facilities, improving the urban landscape, and enhancing the sustainability of municipal services, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and the Quality of Life Program.

Al-Zahrani mentioned that the municipality continues to implement its development projects according to studied plans aimed at raising the level of services provided to residents and visitors, and achieving an integrated and sustainable urban environment in all cities and governorates of the Eastern Region.
