Riyadh, Safar 04, 1448 AH, July 18, 2026 (SPA): The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomed the Jordanian initiative to operate regular commercial flights between Amman and Sanaa, affirming that it contributes to meeting the humanitarian needs of the Yemeni people and facilitating the movement of civilians. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement that the Kingdom welcomes the Yemeni government's approval of the initiative as a positive step reflecting its keenness to facilitate procedures and alleviate human suffering, and called on the Houthis to interact positively with the initiative instead of repeating their previous decisions that increased the suffering of Yemenis, and to stop any escalatory measures. The Kingdom renewed its support for all initiatives that achieve security and stability in Yemen and preserve its sovereignty.

This initiative comes within the framework of ongoing regional efforts to support peace in Yemen and alleviate the worsening humanitarian crisis.

This is the first step of its kind since the suspension of direct flights between the two countries due to the Yemeni conflict.
