The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz approved the public education system in the country to strengthen its governance framework, provide the necessary enablers to achieve its targets, and raise the quality of the educational environment and its outputs, as well as regulate the role of the private and non-profit sectors, in line with the targets of Saudi Vision 2030.

Minister of Education Yousef Al-Bunyan affirmed that this approval represents important support for the development of public education in Saudi Arabia and enhances the efficiency of its regulatory and operational system. The system comes as an extension of the sector's transformation journey, supporting its personnel and contributing to raising institutional performance efficiency.

Under the system, a Council for Public Education Affairs will be established to approve policies and controls, including matters related to students, teachers, and educational institutions, to ensure sector governance. It also contributes to enhancing the principle of national partnership in development.

The system enhances governance by defining the roles of the Ministry of Education, the Council, and relevant entities, supporting the alignment of educational policies, plans, and programs, raising decision-making efficiency, and enabling the Ministry to develop tools for regulation, follow-up, and supervision of the sector.

It also supports the development of public education at all stages by enabling the Ministry to develop plans related to educational programs, regulate student transitions between them, and create specializations that consider labor market needs, in addition to establishing specialized schools or classes in various fields such as the Holy Quran, mathematics, science, technology, programming, arts, and humanities.

This step contributes to supporting and preparing an attractive environment for investment in education by regulating the participation of the private and non-profit sectors in providing and improving services, and enhancing the attractiveness of investment and partnerships according to clear controls to raise quality, expand options, and ensure the sustainability of developing government and private educational institutions.

The system affirms the protection of human rights in education, students and teachers, and the provision of a safe and stimulating educational environment, supporting the quality of the process and improving the experience of male and female students, in addition to consolidating the role of the family in supporting this journey.

It also supports the quality of care and education in early childhood, keeping pace with the importance of the early years in building the child's personality and skills. Likewise, it contributes to providing educational and support services more suited to the needs of students with disabilities within institutions, and developing the capabilities of gifted students, enhancing the efficiency of the educational experience and taking into account the diversity of student interests and future requirements.

During the upcoming period, the Ministry, in coordination with relevant entities, will work on completing the executive and regulatory provisions to ensure its application according to a clear methodology, and to support achieving the targets of developing public education and raising the efficiency of its outputs.

It is noted that the new system includes organized provisions for educational stages, the Council, educational institutions and tracks, e-learning and continuous learning, the educational environment, and the rights of students and teachers.
