RIYADH — More than 300 tons of contaminated food were prevented from entering Saudi Arabia during the second quarter of 2026, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) said.
In its second-quarter regulatory enforcement report, the SFDA said it uncovered 1,960 offending enterprises, confiscated 1,016 items, and carried out 17,096 inspection tours.
The SFDA emphasized that adherence to its rules is compulsory, and warned that any breaches will face legal action and regulatory sanctions.
The SFDA's enforcement efforts are part of Saudi Arabia's broader food safety strategy under Vision 2030. The authority regularly publishes quarterly reports to increase transparency. The large number of violators indicates ongoing challenges in regulatory compliance. Continued inspections are expected to deter future infractions.
