The US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that the US military launched a new round of strikes on Iran after Iranian Revolutionary Guard forces attacked a container ship flying the flag of Cyprus that was transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

According to a CENTCOM statement, 'One civilian crew member is missing, and the vessel is unable to continue its voyage due to a fire that broke out on board and severe damage to the engine room.'

CENTCOM confirmed that the strikes were carried out under the direction of US President Donald Trump.
