The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at the Al-Haditha port foiled an attempt to smuggle 208,836 amphetamine pills, found hidden in a consignment carried by a truck entering the Kingdom through the port.

ZATCA spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi explained that when the truck underwent customs procedures and was inspected using security technologies and live methods, the quantity of narcotic pills was found hidden in a consignment of 'Aqal' (headbands).

Al-Harbi noted that after the seizure, coordination was made with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to arrest the recipients of the seized items inside the Kingdom, where two individuals were apprehended.

The spokesperson affirmed that the Authority, through all its customs ports, is tightening customs control over the Kingdom's imports and exports, and is vigilant against smuggling attempts, in fulfillment of key pillars of its strategy to enhance security and protect society by curdling attempts to smuggle such plagues and other contraband, in coordination and cooperation with its partners: the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Narcotics Control.

Al-Harbi called on everyone to contribute to combating smuggling to protect society and the national economy by contacting the Authority on the security reporting number (1910), or via email ([email protected]), or the international number (009661910), through which the Authority receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the Unified Customs Law with complete confidentiality, and offers a financial reward to the reporter if the information is correct.
