Kuwait announced on Saturday that one of the vital sites in the oil sector was subjected to 'Iranian attacks,' resulting in injuries and heavy material losses.
The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation reported, in a statement carried by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), that 'one of the vital sites in the oil sector was subjected to repeated treacherous Iranian attacks on Saturday morning,' resulting in 'a number of injuries and heavy material losses.'
The corporation did not name the targeted site, nor did it disclose additional details about the extent of the damage.
It added: 'The injured were given first aid and the site was evacuated, while the attack is being dealt with in coordination with the relevant state authorities.'
Earlier on Saturday, the Kuwait Fire Service Directorate announced that its teams dealt with two fires that broke out at two different locations in the country after they were targeted as part of the 'recent hostile attacks' attributed to Iran.
It added that the first incident resulted, during firefighting operations, in 'the injury of a number of firefighters and one worker, where the site was evacuated and they were transported to receive the necessary medical care.'
The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy also announced earlier on Saturday 'the outbreak of a fire in parts of a power and water desalination plant after it was subjected to an Iranian attack.'
Kuwait, along with other Arab countries, has been subjected to Iranian attacks in recent days, while Tehran said it targeted US military bases and sites in Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman, in response to US strikes against it.
This comes after the collapse of the interim memorandum of understanding signed by the United States and Iran on June 18, before US President Donald Trump announced on July 8 the end of the agreement, accusing Tehran of non-compliance, while Iran held Washington responsible for its failure.
