(CNN) -- Three explosions were heard in the Iranian city of Konarak a few minutes ago on Thursday evening, according to Iran's semi-official Mehr news agency.

No immediate information was available on the cause of the explosions or the extent of any potential damage.

A US official told CNN that the US military is not conducting any strikes at this time.

Konarak is a strategic coastal city located on the Makran coast in Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province, on the western side of the Gulf of Oman.
