The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the completion of a new wave of military strikes against Iran, confirming that the operations carried out on July 12 hit dozens of targets at multiple sites using precision-guided munitions.

The Central Command said the strikes targeted air defense systems of the Iranian army, coastal radar sites, equipment related to missiles and drones, as well as small boats, as part of efforts to undermine Iranian capabilities used to threaten maritime navigation.

The Central Command stressed that the Strait of Hormuz is a vital sea lane for global trade, emphasizing that Iran does not control the strait and that U.S. forces are 'alert and ready' to ensure continued freedom of navigation and commercial shipping in the region.

Earlier today, the U.S. Central Command announced the start of a new wave of strikes at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, explaining that the goal is to continue weakening Iran's ability to attack civilian sailors and commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

It added that the commander of U.S. forces ordered these strikes to 'hold Iranian forces accountable' following attacks targeting navigation in the strategic waterway.
