Damascus Blasts: Investigations Reveal ISIS Involvement
Syrian authorities announced Friday that preliminary investigations with members of the cell accused of carrying out the Damascus blasts showed their affiliation with the Islamic State (ISIS) group, in the first official disclosure of the entity behind the two attacks that occurred during a visit by French President Emmanuel Macron.
The commander of internal security in Rural Damascus, Brigadier General Ahmed al-Dalati, said that preliminary investigations with members of the cell involved in the blasts 'showed their affiliation with the ISIS group.'
The announcement came hours after the Syrian Interior Ministry confirmed the arrest of all members of the cell, following a broad and complex security operation carried out in coordination with the General Intelligence Directorate and security forces.
