Iraq's Supreme Judicial Council announced on Monday the recovery of 375 kilograms of gold as part of judicial investigations into the case of the accused, Iraqi Deputy Oil Minister Adnan Al-Jumaili.

The Supreme Judicial Council stated in a press release that, in coordination with the Kurdistan Region and under the supervision of the Council's President, Judge Faiq Zaidan, 358 kilograms of gold were recovered.

It added that 17 kilograms were seized in another investigative case, bringing the total amount of gold confiscated to 375 kilograms. The recovered gold quantities have been handed over to the Director General of the Issuance and Treasury Department of the Central Bank and his assistant.

The Council noted that the Iraqi judiciary continues its investigation as part of efforts to complete inquiries into the case of the detained Deputy Oil Minister, Adnan Al-Jumaili, in order to recover movable and immovable assets obtained from this crime and to punish the perpetrators according to the law.
