The Yemeni Ministry of Transport expressed its categorical rejection of attempts to operate Iranian or foreign flights to Sana'a International Airport outside the legal and sovereign frameworks of the Republic of Yemen, considering this a clear violation of national laws and international civil aviation agreements, and an explicit infringement on the sovereignty of the Yemeni state.

In an official statement, the ministry stressed that any international operation to and from Sana'a Airport must be conducted through the legally recognized competent authorities, in accordance with the rules of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and applicable regulations.

The statement, issued by the Ministry of Transport and reported by the Yemeni news agency Saba, noted that the ministry, along with the Yemeni people, has followed all ongoing efforts by the political leadership—represented by the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, its members, and the Prime Minister—with the support of brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to ensure the continued operation of flights through Sana'a International Airport for the benefit of all Yemeni citizens without exception, and to work on removing obstacles imposed by the Houthi terrorist militia on civil aviation.

The statement clarified that these practices constitute a clear violation of citizens' right to movement and travel, and a direct targeting of the national carrier (Yemenia Airways), which has continued to fulfill its national and humanitarian duty despite the exceptional circumstances in the country. It pointed out that its efforts have consistently faced deliberate obstacles and arbitrary decisions aimed at disrupting operations and achieving illegitimate gains at the expense of patients, students, the elderly, children, and all citizens in areas under militia control.

The Yemeni Ministry of Transport renewed its call on the United Nations, the international community, and relevant international civil aviation organizations to assume their legal and moral responsibilities, press for an end to practices targeting the national carrier, and ensure the management of Sana'a Airport in accordance with international laws and agreements, thereby safeguarding citizens' rights to travel and movement and protecting Yemeni state institutions.

It affirmed that the Yemeni government will continue to support Yemenia Airways as the national carrier of the Republic of Yemen, and will persist in its efforts to resume and expand flights through Sana'a Airport and various Yemeni airports. It will not allow civil aviation to be turned into a tool of political blackmail or a means of harming citizens' interests.

The statement from the Yemeni Ministry of Transport concluded by emphasizing that, just days before the militia announced the operation of Iranian flights to Sana'a Airport, the ministry had completed preparations for an integrated plan to resume flights between Sana'a and Amman and expand to other destinations after obtaining the necessary licenses and permits. However, it was surprised by attempts to impose a reality contrary to international law and Yemeni sovereignty, a step that would undermine efforts to achieve peace and stability and prolong the crisis suffered by the Yemeni people.
