The U.S. Department of Justice announced Friday that charges have been filed against eight men for allegedly planning a large-scale attack during a mixed martial arts event held at the White House in June, with the aim of assassinating President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and several other prominent figures.

The department said a federal grand jury issued an indictment against the suspects, aged 19 to 32, after the plot was foiled and all members were arrested.

The defendants face charges of conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists and conspiracy to commit murder within federal jurisdiction targeting U.S. government officials.
