The Iranian Ministry of Health announced the death of 17 people and the injury of 115 others as a result of the attacks launched by the United States on Iran on Wednesday and Thursday.

This was stated in a post published by the ministry's spokesperson, Hossein Kermanpour, on the American company 'X' platform on Friday evening.

The United States had launched attacks on areas in southern Iran and Golestan province in the north of the country on July 8 and 9, despite the two sides reaching a memorandum of understanding, after Iran targeted a number of ships in the Strait of Hormuz under the pretext of their 'uncoordinated' movement.

Iran responded by launching attacks targeting US military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan.

The Gulf region has been witnessing escalating tensions since the outbreak of the US-Israeli war on Iran on February 28 last.

Following the signing of a memorandum of understanding by Washington and Tehran on June 18 last, negotiations between the two sides continue with the mediation of Qatar and Pakistan, aiming to reach a final agreement.
