British police announced on Saturday that they had found no evidence to support bringing terrorism charges against anyone, following a suspected threat that targeted an Islamic event held in eastern England last week.

Authorities had arrested 13 people between Sunday and Thursday after receiving information about a 'potential serious threat' targeting the religious event, which was attended by around 15,000 people in Suffolk.

Police said that eight men were detained under terrorism law, before seven of them were released without charge.

In contrast, a 42-year-old man was charged with possession of offensive weapons, including an expandable baton and a stun gun, after they were found during searches. Police confirmed they do not believe there is any link between these seizures and the threat under investigation.

London's Counter Terrorism Policing head, Helen Flanagan, said the investigations have not uncovered any evidence to support terrorism-related charges, noting that the investigation is ongoing and authorities will take further action if any new threats emerge.

Police added that they had seized more than 35 digital devices during searches of homes and vehicles as part of the investigation.

Britain had raised the national terrorism threat level to 'severe' in April, meaning that the likelihood of a terrorist attack remains high.
