Bahrain directs a fifth identical letter to the United Nations and the Security Council regarding the Iranian aggression on its territory
Manama, March 14 (QNA) - Bahrain sent a fifth identical letter to both the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the President of the Security Council on March 12, 2026, as part of the official correspondence tracking the developments of the ongoing Iranian aggression against Bahrain, despite the international community's call to stop this aggression under Security Council Resolution 2817.
The Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported that the letter included the most prominent developments and statistics related to the Iranian aggression against Bahrain since February 28, 2026, which targets sites, infrastructure, vital facilities, and residential areas within the kingdom's borders. The letter referred to official reports confirming that these attacks are part of successive waves of missile and drone attacks targeting a number of regional countries, in an unprecedented escalation that threatens regional peace and stability.
The letter affirmed that since the start of these attacks, air defense systems have successfully intercepted and destroyed more than 120 ballistic missiles and more than 190 hostile drones that targeted the kingdom's airspace, territorial waters, and land.
The letter also addressed the blatant Iranian aggression targeting fuel tanks at a facility in Muharraq Governorate on March 12, 2026.
The letter renewed Bahrain's affirmation of its full and inherent right to respond to these aggressions in accordance with their form and magnitude, pursuant to Article 51 of the UN Charter and within the framework of international law, and in coordination with its allies and partners. It also reaffirmed the kingdom's unwavering commitment to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and its taking of all necessary measures and actions to preserve its security and stability and protect its territory, citizens, and residents.
The letter concluded by renewing Bahrain's call on the international community to condemn and denounce these aggressions in the strongest terms as they endanger civilian lives and threaten regional and international peace and security.
