Iranian state media reported on Saturday that an explosion was heard in the eastern part of Tehran Province.

Reports said residents of Pakdasht and Qiamdasht cities reported hearing the explosion.

Fars news agency quoted an Iranian official as saying: "The explosions heard in eastern Tehran were caused by an operation to destroy explosive materials."

These developments come amid continued security alert in Iran, as official clarifications are awaited to reveal the details of the incident.
