The US State Department issued a "global warning" for Americans on Tuesday due to "rising tensions in the Middle East."

The State Department said in the warning: "Due to escalating tensions in the Middle East, the security situation remains complex with the potential for unexpected escalation."

It added: "Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise caution and be prepared for possible flight cancellations."

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Monday it had launched a new round of strikes on Iran for the tenth consecutive night.

CENTCOM stated that the strikes, which began at 4 p.m. (20:00 GMT), "aim to further degrade Iranian military capabilities used to attack commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz."

Iranian media reported explosions in Bandar Abbas, Qeshm, and Sirik.

Several explosions were also heard in the cities of Chabahar and Konarak in southern Iran, and Isfahan in central Iran.

An explosion also rocked Shiraz in southwestern Iran, and another in the southern port of Lengeh.

Iranian media also reported that air defenses were activated near the Bushehr nuclear plant.

US President Donald Trump said Monday that Iran will "pay a price" for killing American soldiers, following the deaths of a number of US military personnel in combat over the past few days.

The number of US soldiers killed in the war on Iran has risen to 17 over the past few days, with the remains of another soldier undergoing examination.

Trump wrote on Truth Social: "Every time Iran kills an American soldier, they will pay a price many times over."

He added that "Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Daniel Kain have been notified of this directive."

Last week, Trump threatened to expand the scope of targets struck in Iran to include power plants and bridges, send ground forces to seize Kharg Island, Iran's main oil export hub, and bomb the underground "Mount Axe" nuclear site.
