ISTANBUL / ANADOLU

Iran's Revolutionary Guard said Tuesday that it will respond firmly and in a way 'that will not be forgotten' to any attack targeting the country's security and independence.

The Guard stated in a statement that Iran's security, independence, and dignity 'are safeguarded by faith, national unity, combat readiness, deterrence, and intelligence superiority.'

The statement added that the Revolutionary Guard is committed to confronting any aggression against the country or what it described as 'enemy adventures.'

It stressed that the response to any such attack would be 'decisive and unforgettable.'

The confrontation between the United States and Iran entered its second week after the collapse of a temporary halt in military operations between the two sides at the beginning of this July.

Since the resumption of the confrontation, the United States has launched successive waves of strikes on military sites and infrastructure inside Iran, while Tehran has responded with missile and drone attacks on what it says are US bases and facilities in several countries in the region.

The escalation has disrupted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, threatened air traffic and energy supplies, amid intermittent closures of airspace and warnings of targeting US facilities and interests outside the Middle East.
