The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said on Tuesday that it stopped two oil tankers that were trying to cross the Strait of Hormuz. According to Iran's official news agency IRNA, the Revolutionary Guard reported stopping two violating oil tankers while they were attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz. It added: "Two violating oil tankers that were trying to pass through the unsafe southern route of the Strait of Hormuz were stopped after explosions caused large fires on board."

Ship Hit Off Oman Coast

Earlier on Tuesday, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced that an unknown projectile hit an oil tanker off the coast of Oman, amid an exchange of attacks between Iran and the United States over control of the Strait of Hormuz.

The UKMTO said it received multiple reports that an oil tanker was hit by an unknown projectile in the Strait of Hormuz, and that the incident occurred 8 nautical miles northeast of Lima area in Oman.
