Lebanese media reported on Saturday that the Israeli army carried out explosions in towns in southern Lebanon.

Lebanese media said that an explosion was carried out by Israeli forces after midnight in the southern town of Majdal Zoun after a machine-gun sweep targeting the town.

According to Lebanese media, an Israeli explosion occurred in the town of Hadatha, in addition to another explosion that targeted the outskirts of the town of Mansouri in the western sector of southern Lebanon, followed by the advance of Israeli vehicles.

Lebanese sources spoke of Israeli artillery shelling on the Ali al-Taher hill in southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese crisis has entered a new phase where security and political paths intersect with the start of implementing the first steps of the framework agreement for southern Lebanon, coinciding with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun's visit to Washington and his meeting with US President Donald Trump in a step seen as a practical test of the Lebanese state's ability to restore its authority in the south.

The Lebanese army announced the start of its deployment in what are known as "experimental areas," while President Aoun affirmed that extending state sovereignty and disarming Hezbollah is an achievable goal, but it is first linked to completing the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory, strengthening the army's capabilities, and launching a state-led reconstruction process.

The Lebanese army deployed in the town of Zawtar al-Gharbiya, one of three towns classified as "experimental areas" along with Froun and Sarifa, within a mechanism based on a gradual Israeli withdrawal in exchange for the Lebanese army's deployment and preventing any military presence outside state institutions, paving the way for expanding the experiment to other areas in the south.

The deployment process witnessed field tension after the Lebanese army announced that its forces were fired upon from the Israeli side while carrying out the mission, while the Israeli army said it fired warning shots in the air after Lebanese personnel entered an area it said was outside the boundaries of the agreed experimental zone.

This path faces major challenges in light of Hezbollah's insistence on refusing to give up its weapons and rejecting the results of direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, making the success of the agreement dependent on the state's ability to implement its security commitments, secure a full Israeli withdrawal, and avoid sliding the country into a new internal confrontation.
