The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned today, Sunday, the chargé d'affaires of the Iranian embassy in Amman and delivered a strongly worded protest message against the continuation of Iranian attacks.

The ministry clarified in a statement that "Jordan summons the chargé d'affaires of the Iranian embassy in Amman and delivers a strongly worded protest message against the continuation of Iranian attacks."

It added: "Jordan requests the chargé d'affaires of the Iranian embassy in Amman to convey a clear message to his country to immediately halt attacks on the Kingdom."

It continued: "Jordan affirms to the chargé d'affaires of the Iranian embassy that the security of Jordan and the safety of its citizens are a red line that cannot be crossed, as well as the necessity of stopping the rejected inflammatory Iranian statements."

It stressed that "Jordan will continue to take all available and necessary steps to protect the safety of its citizens, its security, and its sovereignty."

Earlier today, a source in the Jordanian army stated that air defense systems shot down 3 Iranian missiles out of 4 that targeted Jordanian territory, while the fourth missile landed in a remote area in the south of the country.

Jordanian media reported that sirens sounded in several provinces in the country, on Sunday afternoon, to alert citizens and urge them to follow instructions, amid the escalation in the region.
