Yemeni authorities have arrested a Houthi terrorist cell involved in the killing of a reporter for Al Arabiya and Al Hadath channels in Hadramout last week, according to the National Resistance media announced today (Saturday).
The military media of the National Resistance said that the General Intelligence of the National Resistance, in cooperation with the State Security Apparatus in the interim capital Aden, managed to arrest two individuals, while continuing to pursue the third suspect, as part of an assassination cell that confessed to killing journalist Mohammed Ayedh in Mukalla and was planning to kill Brigadier General Salah al-Salahi in Aden, indicating that the cell operates for the benefit of the Houthi terrorist militia.
The media explained that the intelligence, after uncovering the cell that assassinated martyr Brigadier General Yahya Wahish, monitored Houthi efforts to lure Brigadier General Salah al-Salahi, who left Mokha for Cairo on vacation last month. It added that al-Salahi, who was leading the so-called 'Al-Sammad Brigade' before leaving Houthi-controlled areas and joining the National Resistance, received calls from Houthi elements claiming to belong to 'Afash Tariq', so the intelligence directed him to continue communicating with them as part of a plan to lure the cell members.
It added that the two parties agreed to hold a meeting at a hotel in Aden, and as soon as zero hour was set, the intelligence informed the State Security Apparatus, which raided the designated location and arrested the cell members.
Journalist Mohammed Ayedh was killed in the city of Mukalla, Hadramout governorate, southeastern Yemen, on June 24 last year, as a result of an explosive device planted in his car. According to Hadramout police, the explosive device was placed under the driver's seat and detonated in front of the Pakistani school near the Bandar playgrounds.
