(CNN)-- Gulf states were hit by what appeared to be an attack early Saturday, triggering air raid sirens and urging residents to take cover.

The Kuwaiti army announced on platform 'X' that 'air defenses are currently dealing with threats posed by hostile drones,' explaining that 'any explosion sounds heard were caused by air defenses repelling hostile targets.'

Meanwhile, the Bahraini Ministry of Interior announced the activation of air raid sirens, and called on citizens and residents to 'take safety measures and seek safe shelter.'

In the same context, Saudi Arabia issued brief warnings in two locations - Yanbu and Al-Kharj governorates - before lifting them after a few minutes, confirming 'the danger has passed.'
