Kuwait announces repelling hostile drone attacks from Iran.. Foreign Ministry comments
(CNN)-- The Kuwaiti army announced on Thursday that it is repelling hostile drone attacks coming from Iran, hours after Tehran launched a new wave of strikes targeting US-allied countries in the region.
The Kuwaiti army said in a statement on its account on platform 'X', formerly Twitter: 'The General Staff of the Army notes that any sounds of explosions heard are the result of air defense systems intercepting hostile attacks.'
For its part, the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry warned that these attacks represent a 'flagrant violation' of international law, stressing in a statement issued Thursday that 'the State of Kuwait holds Iran fully responsible for the continuation of these aggressions and their consequences,' and affirmed that persistence in this aggressive approach against Kuwait and other Gulf Cooperation Council states exacerbates escalation and tension, undermines the region's security and stability, calling on Iran to immediately cease these aggressions.
In contrast, no comment has yet been issued by the Iranian army regarding the latest wave of attacks targeting Kuwait.
The Iranian army had announced on Thursday the execution of a new drone attack on American military targets in Kuwait and Bahrain, as part of the tenth round of the operation it named 'Operation Thunderbolt,' according to Iran's official IRNA news agency.
It said the attacks targeted radar systems, air defense, Patriot missiles, and fuel tankers at Ali Al Salem base in Kuwait, in addition to communication systems, radars, and Patriot systems at Sheikh Isa base in Bahrain.
