The Kuwaiti Army announced on Friday that a number of ground force personnel were injured and military and civilian facilities, including a power and water desalination plant, were damaged as a result of Iranian attacks targeting the country.
Kuwaiti Defense Ministry spokesman, Colonel Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan, said that the armed forces had detected enemy ballistic missiles and drones within the country's airspace since dawn on Friday, and dealt with and intercepted them.
Al-Atwan added, in a statement published by the army on its account on the American platform 'X', that Iranian drones targeted a number of facilities and camps belonging to the Kuwaiti army, without providing details.
He explained that the attacks resulted in injuries to an unspecified number of ground force personnel while carrying out their duties.
Al-Atwan indicated that they received the necessary medical care and their health condition is stable.
Later, the Kuwaiti Chief of Staff reported that Defense Minister Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah visited a number of injured soldiers to check on their health condition and follow up on the medical care provided to them.
Al-Atwan also pointed out that the attacks also targeted a number of vital and civilian facilities, including one of the 'electric power and water desalination' plants.
The targeting of the plant resulted in a fire and damage to its facilities and a number of power generation units, while firefighting and emergency teams dealt with the incident and worked to restore damaged generation capacity.
The spokesman added that shrapnel fell in several locations in the country, causing material damage without any human injuries.
Al-Atwan affirmed that the armed forces continue to carry out their tasks and take necessary measures to protect the country's sovereignty, security and stability, in coordination with relevant authorities.
Kuwait, along with other Arab countries, has been subjected to Iranian attacks in recent days, while Tehran claimed to have targeted US military bases and sites in Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman, in response to US strikes against it.
The escalation comes after the collapse of a temporary memorandum of understanding signed by the United States and Iran on June 18 last year to stop the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz to commercial navigation.
On July 8 of this month, US President Donald Trump announced that the agreement had 'ended', accusing Iran of not adhering to it, while Tehran blamed Washington for plunging it into a crisis and violating its terms.
