Two people were killed Wednesday in a strike by an Israeli drone on the town of Nabatieh al-Fawqa in the Nabatieh governorate in southern Lebanon, in a new breach of the ceasefire agreement between the two countries.
The Lebanese National News Agency said that "two young men were martyred after being targeted by a hostile drone while walking in the vicinity of Ghandour Hospital in the town of Nabatieh al-Fawqa" in the Nabatieh district.
In the Bint Jbeil district of the same governorate, the Israeli army carried out a "large explosion" in the town of Taybeh, according to the agency.
The escalation on the ground comes despite Lebanon and Israel signing a "framework agreement" sponsored by the United States on June 26, 2026, and a day after Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar announced a new round of Lebanese-Israeli talks in the Italian capital Rome next week.
Earlier Wednesday, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced in a statement that the death toll from Israeli aggression on the country had risen to 4,321 killed and 12,203 wounded since March 2, 2026.
Israel still occupies areas in southern Lebanon, some for decades, and others since the war that erupted between 2023 and 2024, while it advanced more than 10 kilometers inside Lebanese territory during the latest aggression.
