Omani Security Source: Sites in Musandam Governorate Targeted by Drones
An Omani security source revealed that sites in the Musandam Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman were targeted by drones, according to the Oman News Agency, without specifying the source of the attacks.
In the same context, the Sultanate of Oman affirmed its condemnation and denunciation of this targeting, reiterating that it is taking all necessary measures to deal with these developments to preserve the safety of the country.
Despite Oman not identifying the source of the attacks, accusations are directed at Iran for targeting the Omani Musandam Governorate hours after it concluded a round of talks in Muscat regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
Musandam has notable strategic importance as it overlooks the Strait of Hormuz, which is the most important international waterway for oil exports and trade, as about 90% of Gulf states' oil exports to the outside world pass through it, and it is also the eastern gateway for trade and navigation to and from countries bordering the Gulf.
Musandam Governorate is located in the far north of the Sultanate of Oman and overlooks the Strait of Hormuz, which serves as the gateway connecting the Gulf to the open seas of the Sea of Oman and the Indian Ocean, while Musandam includes four wilayats: Khasab, Dibba, Bukha, and Madha, with the governorate center being Khasab.
