A joint field campaign by Jeddah Municipality resulted in the seizure and referral of more than 6,503 counterfeit garments inside a residential building in the Al-Aziziyah sub-municipality, which was exploited to operate factories for manufacturing women's abayas and preparing clothes bearing counterfeit club logos and brand trademarks, as part of its ongoing efforts to monitor unauthorized activities in residential areas and curb violative practices.

The Director General for Monitoring and Addressing Negative Phenomena, Mr. Yasser bin Saraj Bakhsh, explained that field teams proceeded to the targeted site after completing legal procedures. The inspection revealed that one of the apartments was used as a workshop for preparing women's abayas, where large quantities of fabrics and ready-to-distribute abayas were seized, along with 20 pieces of equipment used in manufacturing operations. Additionally, 12 violative workers who were self-employed were arrested.

He added that the inspection uncovered another workshop dedicated to counterfeiting trademarks, containing 6,503 counterfeit sports jerseys bearing logos of international clubs and brands, in addition to printing and sewing equipment used in the manufacturing processes.

He stated that the campaign was carried out with the participation of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Ministry of Commerce, the Al-Aziziyah Sub-Municipality, Field Control, Civil Defense, and the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, which contributed to the seizure operations and the taking of legal measures.

He added that the counterfeit clothes were destroyed in accordance with legal procedures in coordination with the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, while fabrics and garments not bearing counterfeit logos were handed over to the National Committee for the Care of Prisoners and Released Prisoners and Their Families (Tarahum) for benefit. The Al-Aziziyah Sub-Municipality also confiscated all machines, equipment, and devices used at the site to complete legal procedures.

This campaign is part of Jeddah Municipality's efforts to monitor violative activities in residential areas and enhance integration with relevant authorities to combat unauthorized practices, thereby contributing to consumer protection and ensuring compliance with regulations and laws.
