Russia launched a missile and drone attack on Ukraine today, killing 6 and wounding dozens, as Kyiv awaits air defense ammunition supplies after shortages undermined its ability to counter Russian attacks.

According to Reuters news agency, authorities said 4 people were killed and 17 wounded after two guided bombs hit a crowded area in the northern Ukrainian city of Sumy. One bomb struck a bus station; images showed a destroyed yellow bus with one side torn off. Two other people were killed and a third wounded earlier today in a missile attack on the southern port city of Odesa.

Russian authorities also reported that a drone struck a civilian facility in the eastern city of Kharkiv, wounding 7 people. 11 people were wounded in the capital Kyiv in an attack using ballistic and cruise missiles as well as drones.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said civilian infrastructure was attacked even before an air raid warning was issued, referring to the attacks on Kyiv.

The Ukrainian president added that Ukrainian defenses managed to shoot down most targets, except for ballistic missiles. He called on Ukraine's allies to expedite the delivery of air defense support packages agreed upon at the NATO summit days ago.
