ASIR — Three Ethiopian nationals were arrested by the Saudi Border Guard in the Asir Region for attempting to smuggle 17 kilograms of hashish and 7,500 amphetamine tablets.
Border patrols operating in the Raboua sector of Asir detained the three men for breaching border security regulations when they were intercepted with the drugs.
Officials confirmed that standard initial legal steps had been taken and that the detainees and confiscated narcotics were handed over to the relevant agency.
The Border Guard urged the public to report any information related to drug smuggling or trafficking by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, 999 in the rest of the Kingdom, 994 for the Border Guard, or 995 for the General Directorate of Narcotics Control.
Reports can also be submitted via email at [email protected].
Authorities reiterated that all reports are handled with complete confidentiality and that informants bear no legal responsibility.
The Kingdom enforces strict penalties for drug trafficking, including lengthy prison sentences and capital punishment. Authorities encourage public cooperation by offering multiple reporting channels, including hotlines and email, with assurances of confidentiality. The seizure highlights ongoing efforts to curb the flow of illegal narcotics across the southern border.
