Tasked with protecting Vance...

A Secret Service agent is under investigation for suspected leaking of information.

A spokesman for the U.S. Secret Service announced Thursday that one of the agents tasked with protecting Vice President JD Vance is under investigation over a possible leak of information.

The investigation comes after a report published last week by MSNBC, which stated that members of Vance's security detail have become increasingly unhappy with personal travel requests made by the vice president and his family members.

Secret Service communications director Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement to AFP that 'one member of the vice president's protective detail is under administrative investigation and potentially criminal investigation regarding allegations of compromising operational and information security.'

He added, 'We will not comment on the specifics of this matter, but there is a non-negotiable principle: any behavior that could threaten the safety of the person we provide protection for will not be tolerated.'

The MSNBC report stated that Vance requested the use of the military helicopter Marine Two, designated for the vice president's travel, to transport him and his son to a secure golf course inside Joint Base Andrews near Washington.

The report said the flight was canceled due to thunderstorms, but it was one of several last-minute requests made by Vance and his family members.

The Secret Service had confirmed that it is facing an unprecedented number of threats against the individuals it protects, particularly President Donald Trump, who has survived several assassination attempts.
