Syria Arrests Cell Responsible for Damascus Bombings

Syrian security forces arrested this evening the cell responsible for the two explosions that occurred in the Syrian capital Damascus two days ago.

The Syrian Ministry of Interior stated that the internal security forces, in cooperation with the General Intelligence Directorate, succeeded in capturing all members of the cell responsible for the recent Damascus bombings, noting that the security operation came after precise intelligence monitoring and was carried out through a series of simultaneous raids targeting various locations in Damascus and its countryside, including the areas of Al-Qutayfah, Sayyida Zainab, Qudsaya suburb, and Ush al-Warwar.

The ministry confirmed - according to the Syrian Arab News Agency - that investigations are ongoing with those arrested to uncover all details of the terrorist plot and the cell's connections.

For his part, Syrian Interior Minister Anas Khattab indicated that the identity of the cell members, their roles, and all their connections will be disclosed to the public after the completion of investigations with them.

Two explosions occurred last Tuesday near the Ministry of Tourism in Damascus, resulting in one person killed and 36 others injured, as Syrian internal security forces were attempting to dismantle two explosive devices they had spotted during their field operations.
