Abu Dhabi, February 24 /WAM/ The State Public Prosecution clarified, through a video material published today on its social media accounts, the penalty for damage to public funds.

The Public Prosecution pointed out that damage to public funds may be intentional or by mistake. In the case of intent, according to Article 264 of Federal Decree-Law No. 31 of 2021 issuing the Crimes and Penalties Law, any public employee or person entrusted with a public service who intentionally damages the funds or interests of the entity he works for or the funds or interests of others entrusted to that entity shall be punished with temporary imprisonment.

In the case of mistake, according to Article 268 of the same Decree-Law, any public employee or person entrusted with a public service who, through his mistake, causes damage to the funds or interests of the entity he works for or the funds or interests of others entrusted to that entity shall be punished with imprisonment and a fine not exceeding (50,000) fifty thousand dirhams, or one of these two penalties.
